Montezuma-Cortez hasn't had much luck against Alamosa recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Panthers will challenge the Mean Moose at 1:00 p.m.
On Friday, Montezuma-Cortez came up short against Centauri and fell 3-1.
While Montezuma-Cortez ultimately came up short, they really made Centauri work, particularly in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 24-26, 25-13, 26-24.
Meanwhile, Alamosa came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with 12 straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 3-1.
Alamosa walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). The final score came out to 25-14, 23-25, 25-23, 25-17.
Montezuma-Cortez better focus on containing Leela Gutierrez and Egypt Holman as the pair were huge in Alamosa's win. Gutierrez had 14 digs and four assists, while Holman had 12 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Holman has posted over her last six matches.
Alamosa was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centauri only served seven.
Montezuma-Cortez's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Alamosa, their record is now 16-1.
Montezuma-Cortez suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Alamosa in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
