The Union County Fightin' Tigers were the 58-55 winner over the Baker County Wildcats when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Union County fell 62-54 to Baker County on Saturday. Union County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Union County still got an impressive performance from Gavin Jenkins, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Williams, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Union County were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Baker County only posted six assists.
Baker County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaeveon Reed out in front who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Dawson Norman, who scored 12 points.
Union County's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Baker County, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9.
Union County will be playing at home against Interlachen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Interlachen is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.1 points per game. As for Baker County, they will head out on the road to challenge Bradford at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
