The Blount Leopards's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 59-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Murphy. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Blount of the 39-36 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on January 12th.
Murphy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kinley Simmons, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Cleaven Brisker was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Blount's defeat was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Murphy, their win bumped their record up to 19-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Blount will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Jackson at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Murphy, they will face off against Davidson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
