The Bethesda Christian Lions fell victim to the Prestonwood Christian North 's's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the on the road and fell 48-0. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, Bethesda Christian couldn't push the score so high this time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Prestonwood Christian North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hayden Wood, who rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, and also threw for 75 yards and a touchdown while completing 77.8% of his passes. Branson Reeves also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Bethesda Christian's defeat was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-1 Victory Christian Academy and 10-2 Community Christian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.6% over those games). As for Prestonwood Christian North, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Bethesda Christian will head out on the road to face off against Nazarene Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nazarene Christian Academy presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bethesda Christian in Texas (Nazarene Christian Academy is ranked 65th, while Bethesda Christian is ranked 227th). As for Prestonwood Christian North, they will be playing at home against Azle Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Azle Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
