If the Central Jaguars were feeling good off their 62-32 takedown of the Flomaton Hurricanes last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Central suffered a rough 58-34 defeat at the hands of Ponce De Leon on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Ponce De Leon is ranked 49th).
Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grace Jarrett, who scored four points.
Central has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Ponce De Leon, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central and Gulf Breeze will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Gulf Breeze focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for Ponce De Leon, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Walton at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Walton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Tuesday.
