Argonaut has gone a perfect 3-0 against Rosemont recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mustangs will host the Woverines at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Argonaut has six straight wins, Rosemont has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Argonaut proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 14) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Union Mine, sneaking past 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since March 26th.
Kendall Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lyla Baldridge and Gia Stone did most of the damage at the plate: Baldridge went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Stone went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most hits Stone has posted over her last ten contests.
Argonaut was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Union Mine only posted a batting average of .200.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Rosemont's offense. They lost 17-0 to Liberty Ranch on Thursday.
Rosemont's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Argonaut, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
Rosemont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Argonaut has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Rosemont, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Argonaut's sizable advantage in that area, the Woverines will need to find a way to close that gap.
Argonaut got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April against Rosemont by a conclusive 15-7 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Woverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
