Two dominant guards in Preston Gedeon and Matteo Fortuna are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Garfield G-Men will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Brookfield Warriors at 7:00 p.m. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Garfield and four for Brookfield.
Last Friday, Garfield was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to Crestview. Garfield has struggled against Crestview recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Garfield had strong showings from Gedeon, who went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 2 assists, and Nick Edic, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Edic has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Rock, who scored two points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Brookfield suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 57-33 defeat at the hands of Newton Falls. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Brookfield has scored all season.
Garfield has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Brookfield, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-7.
Things could have been worse for Garfield, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-42 loss to Brookfield in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Garfield, Isaiah Jones (who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
