The Saraland Spartans put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 42-13 win over Theodore. Considering Saraland has won eight matchups by more than 28 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Saraland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Williams, who picked up 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 27 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Santae McWilliams Jr., who gained 120 total yards and two touchdowns.
Saraland's victory was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. As for Theodore, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saraland will face off against McGill-Toolen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. McGill-Toolen will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Saraland is ranked fourth). As for Theodore, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Paul's Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Paul's Episcopal will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
