Atchison is a perfect 10-0 against Washington since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Phoenix will welcome the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Yogi Purdy and Brody Barnes made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Purdy struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Barnes tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. Washington never got on the board in their matchup on Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Wyandotte on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Bulldogs. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Like Atchison, Washington also got a great game from a pair of two-way players: Chris Reno. On the mound, Reno struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off only two hits. Meanwhile, Liam Peck tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Reno has become a key player for Washington: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 3-9 otherwise. At bat, Reno went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Peck got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Nathan Garcia was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Washington is 3-1 when Garcia posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-9 otherwise. Davon Ware was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Everything went Atchison's way against Washington when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Atchison made off with a 15-4 victory. Do the Phoenix have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
