Omaha Westside is 7-0 against Omaha South since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Omaha Westside Warriors will get right back to it and host the Omaha South Packers at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Omaha Westside will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
On Thursday, Omaha Westside didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Pius X, but they still walked away with a 57-52 victory.
Omaha Westside's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kimora Jenkins, who scored 18 points, and Kara Stricklin, who scored 17 points. Sydney Hagen was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
Omaha South suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Lincoln Southwest on the road and fell 69-33. Omaha South has struggled against Lincoln Southwest recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Aaliyah Foster, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mckenzie James, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Even though they lost, Omaha South smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln Southwest only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Omaha Westside's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Omaha South, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Friday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Omaha Westside have been dynamite from deep this season, having drained 37.5% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Omaha South, though, as they've only made 36.1% of their threes per game this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Omaha Westside against Omaha South in their previous matchup back in January of 2022 as the squad secured a 71-28 win. With Omaha Westside ahead 48-17 at the half, the match was all but over already.
