The Glenbard North Panthers will take on the St. Charles East Fighting Saints at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Glenbard North took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Batavia as they made off with a 12-2 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Avery Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Gia Whelan was incredible, firing off two home runs, three RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Tru Medina was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, St. Charles East made easy work of Kaneland on Saturday and carried off an 8-2 win.
The team relied heavily on Addison Wolf, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Majkszak, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
St. Charles East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Glenbard North's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for St. Charles East, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Glenbard North hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 2 home runs per game. However, it's not like St. Charles East struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Glenbard North skirted past St. Charles East 5-3 in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Fighting Saints have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
