The Franklin Central Flashes won against the Avon Orioles last Saturday with 57 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Franklin Central came out on top against Avon by a score of 57-47. Winning may never get old, but Franklin Central sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Payton Duvall continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Lily Graves was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Avon still got an impressive performance from Aniah Smith, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Makaylee Butts, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Franklin Central pushed their record up to 9-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Avon, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin Central won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Greenfield-Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Greenfield-Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Avon, they will be playing at home against Upper Arlington at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Upper Arlington presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Avon in their respective states (Upper Arlington is ranked 35th in Ohio, while Avon is ranked 117th in Indiana).
