Baseball Recap: Monday's Win Is Reading's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

While Reading's win against Mariemont wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over the Warriors on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Blue Devils also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Connor Davis made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Davis wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carter Reed, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Reading is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Mariemont, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.

Reading will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Warriors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
