Fruitport has gone a perfect 4-0 against Fremont recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Trojans will look to defend their home field against the Packers at 6:00 p.m. Fruitport is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13 runs per game this season.
Fruitport's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Wednesday's struggle, when Reeths-Puffer hitters got past them. The Trojans lost 14-1 to the Rockets on Wednesday. The Trojans were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the six games prior), but the Rockets' pitchers proved too tough.
Fruitport saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maya Aldridge, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Fremont had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 13-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Packers, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kam Clark was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracie Clark, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Kayden Bulk was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base.
Fremont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are undefeated (5-0) when they post 11 or more hits.
Fremont's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Fruitport, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 7-1.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Fruitport has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .578. However, it's not like Fremont struggles in that department as they've averaged .498. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Fruitport's way against Fremont in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Fruitport made off with a 20-7 win. Do the Trojans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Packers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
