Mayfield and Centennial are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Mayfield Trojans will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Centennial Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Mayfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday.
Mayfield can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent contest. They put the hurt on Las Cruces with a sharp 52-26 victory. Mayfield pushed the score to 44-22 by the end of the third, a deficit Las Cruces had little chance of recovering from.
Mayfield got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ceanna Mckines out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Kirker, who scored 11 points along with six assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, Centennial was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 39-34 to Alamogordo.
Mayfield's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.
Everything went Mayfield's way against Centennial in their previous matchup back in January as Mayfield made off with a 46-24 victory. Does Mayfield have another victory up their sleeve, or will Centennial turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
