After flying high against the Mohave Thunderbirds last Monday, the Mingus Marauders came back down to earth. Mingus was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 59-58 to Lee Williams. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Mingus' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ricky Villalobos, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Villalobos has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Memphis Korolowicz, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Mingus' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Lee Williams, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
Mingus will be playing in front of their home fans against Flagstaff at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Flagstaff will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Lee Williams, they will head out on the road to challenge Prescott at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Prescott knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matches -- so hopefully Lee Williams likes a good challenge.
