Inchelium had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over the Kettle Falls Bulldogs. Winning may never get old, but the Hornets sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row dating back to last season.
Marissa Burch made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Burch was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Inchelium let Tiana Flett and Isabella Finley run wild. Flett scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances, while Finley went 1-for-6 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Izabella Sutton, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Kettle Falls' defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Inchelium will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Mary Walker at 12:00 p.m. on March 29th. As for Kettle Falls, they will welcome Republic at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
