Basketball Recap: Samuel Wheeler's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sugar Creek Christian Academy over Ross County Christian Academy

After flying high against Varsity Opponent last Thursday, Sugar Creek Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Sugar Creek Christian Academy Eagles took a 77-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ross County Christian Academy Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against Sugar Creek Christian Academy this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 81-54 last Saturday.

Sugar Creek Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samuel Wheeler, who posted 24 points and eight rebounds. Wheeler is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. Will Salyers was another key player, putting up 19 points.

The loss was their first at home , dropping their record down to 9-4. As for Ross County Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-7.

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Sugar Creek Christian Academy Eagles challenge the Tri-State HomeSchool Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Sugar Creek Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.9 points per game this season. As for Ross County Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Genoa Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Ross County Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Genoa Christian Academy likes a good challenge.
