Baseball Recap: Seguin's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mansfield Timberview, Seguin was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Southwest Raiders 7-6. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their 14-game losing streak.

Alex Price looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ledif Figueroa-Cotto and KeiShaun Moore did most of the damage at the plate: Figueroa-Cotto went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Moore went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Seguin is 7-1 when Figueroa-Cotto posts two or more runs, but 3-17 otherwise. Tristan Mcgee was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Seguin's victory bumped their record up to 10-18. As for Southwest, they dropped their record down to 8-17 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Seguin has already played their next match, a 14-4 defeat against Mansfield Timberview on the 18th. As for Southwest, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Western Hills on the 22nd.
