Flag Football Recap: Quishyi Walcott and Jamaya Rose Lead the Defense for Shaw Win

Northside came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against Shaw, but Quishyi Walcott wouldn't allow it. The Raiders walked away with a 26-13 victory over the Patriots on Thursday thanks in part to Walcott, who rushed for 46 yards and four touchdowns, and also threw for 111 yards while completing 72.7% of her passes. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times she's played.

Shaw didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Walcott and Jamaya Rose.

Despite the loss, Northside saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Amelia Poindexter picked up 101 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Shaw is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Northside, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-5.

Coming up, Shaw will challenge St. Anne-Pacelli at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' defense has only allowed 4.6 points per game this season, so the Raiders' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Northside, they will face off against Columbus at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Patriots 10.4, the Blue Devils 2.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
