The Lutheran Lions waltzed into their contest on Friday with 16 straight wins but they left with 17. They came out on top against Palmer Ridge by a score of 71-60. Given Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Bears are ranked 170th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lutheran to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braydon Jacob, who scored 22 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Speckman, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Palmer Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jimmer Weir. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. Jon Rice (#3) was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Lutheran pushed their record up to 17-2 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.2 points per game. As for Palmer Ridge, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lutheran will take on the Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
