St. Vincent de Paul is 0-7 against Montgomery since March of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Mustangs will host the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. St. Vincent de Paul is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
St. Vincent de Paul will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Santa Rosa on Wednesday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 24-4 margin over the Panthers. The Mustangs have beaten the Panthers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.

Makayla Bignardi was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 5-for-6. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, St. Vincent de Paul got a massive performance out of Johana Stone, who scored three runs while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Maddy Rynning, who scored four runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
St. Vincent de Paul always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .780. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Montgomery came up short against Piner on Thursday and fell 10-7.
Kalee Murray and Laela Shimon stepped up to the plate in a big way. Murray went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double, while Shimon scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That triple marked the first that Murray hit this season.
St. Vincent de Paul now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Montgomery, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-10.
Montgomery's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. St. Vincent de Paul has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Montgomery, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will St. Vincent de Paul keep running through batters, or will the Vikings buck the trend?
St. Vincent de Paul suffered a grim 13-0 defeat to Montgomery in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
