The Northern Durham Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 98-5 defeat at the hands of Chapel Hill. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Northern Durham has scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chapel Hill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jay Green, who scored 18 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Green scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadzia Burnette, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Northern Durham bumped their record down to 2-9 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.8 points per game. As for Chapel Hill, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northern Durham will square off against Halifax County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Halifax County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Northern Durham in their respective states (Halifax County is ranked 173rd in Virginia, while Northern Durham is ranked 521st in North Carolina). As for Chapel Hill, they will head out on the road to square off against Hillside at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillside is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
