First Flight is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 22 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Manteo on Friday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Redskins.

Riley Gilreath spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on 12 hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Camden County won against Greenbrier Christian Academy on Thursday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Camden County beat Currituck County by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bruins.
Cayleigh Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaitlynn Barnes, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Audrey Jones was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Camden County pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.4 runs this season. As for First Flight, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. First Flight has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .500. However, it's not like Camden County struggles in that department as they've averaged .440. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
First Flight came up short against Camden County in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 3-0. Can First Flight avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
