The Cherokee Chiefs are taking a road trip to square off against the Moorestown Quakers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cherokee is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
While Cherokee's victory against Shawnee wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Chiefs won by a run and slipped past the Renegades 7-6.

Allison Cunane made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ava Merente was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Cali Taylor was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
Moorestown came out on top against Bishop Eustace Prep on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run third inning. The Quakers were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Crusaders. Considering the Quakers have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Cherokee, Moorestown also got a great game from a two-way player: Emily Cougle. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Cougle was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lily Marta, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Baylee D'Angelo, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Moorestown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.
Moorestown is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-11-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Cherokee, their record now sits at 11-4.
Moorestown's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Cherokee has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Moorestown, though, as they've been averaging only 2.5 strikeouts. Will Cherokee keep running through batters, or will the Quakers buck the trend?
Cherokee might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Moorestown when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Chiefs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
