Softball Recap: Olmsted Falls Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Midview, Olmsted Falls was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with an 11-6 win over the Rocky River Pirates. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bulldogs' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

ASHLEY SCOTT was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on SYDNEY BUSSER, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of ELENA VROUTOS, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.

Olmsted Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Olmsted Falls has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Rocky River, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-6.

Coming up, Olmsted Falls will challenge Magnificat at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Blue Streaks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.1 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Rocky River, they will square off against Westlake at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
