Riverton is a perfect 3-0 against Corner Canyon since April of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Silverwolves will welcome the Chargers at 3:30 p.m. Riverton will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
On Friday, Riverton was able to grind out a solid victory over Herriman, taking the game 13-8.
Jackson Young looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gage Zullo, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Gaige Woods was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Riverton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.
Bingham typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Corner Canyon proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 12-9 win over the Miners. Corner Canyon's victory was all the more impressive since the Miners were averaging only 3.74 runs allowed on the season.
Drew Whatcott was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Corner Canyon is 7-1 when Whatcott posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Garrett Downing, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Riverton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Corner Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Riverton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. However, it's not like Corner Canyon struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Riverton was able to grind out a solid victory over Corner Canyon in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 9-5. Will the Silverwolves repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
