In what's become a running theme this season, the Lancaster Red Devils gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 83-63 margin over Northumberland. Winning may never get old, but Lancaster sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Lancaster's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daveon Smith, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Smith is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Troy Henderson, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Despite the defeat, Northumberland saw an underclassman step up: Tyreek Lundy dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lundy has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Malachi Howard, who scored 21 points.
Lancaster pushed their record up to 13-2 with that victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.76 points. As for Northumberland, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.
Lancaster will look to defend their home court on Monday against Essex at 7:00 p.m. Essex will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 413th, while Lancaster is ranked 55th). As for Northumberland, they will head out on the road to challenge West Point at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
