The Granville Blue Aces will be home for the holidays to greet the River Valley Vikings at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Granville's favor as the team sits on 12 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while River Valley has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Granville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 32 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 64-32 win over Heath at home. With Granville ahead 40-17 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for River Valley, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-33 loss to Bishop Watterson on Sunday. While losing is never fun, River Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Bishop Watterson is ranked 119th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Halle Snyder, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Lexie Hecker was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Granville's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for River Valley, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Everything came up roses for Granville against River Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2021 as the team secured a 55-23 win. Does Granville have another victory up their sleeve, or will River Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
