They came out on top in a nail-biter against NCSSM: Durham and snuck past 55-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Western Alamance has posted since December 1, 2023.
Among those leading the charge was Nicholas McGhee, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was James Newton, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, NCSSM: Durham still got an impressive performance from Arthur Zhao, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 34 points and 2 assists. That's the first time this season that Zhao scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Karl Osei-Boateng, who scored four points.
NCSSM: Durham struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Western Alamance pushed their record up to 7-7 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for NCSSM: Durham, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western Alamance will take on Williams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
