Cristo Rey scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 81-69 to the Veritas Collegiate Academy Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Royals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 307th, while the Spartans are ranked 69th).

Cristo Rey's loss came despite strong showings from Haven Wilson and Jab Scott. Wilson dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while Scott posted 19 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan July III, who put up eight points.

Even though they lost, Cristo Rey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Cristo Rey's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Veritas Collegiate Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Cristo Rey wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 67-24 defeat against Manchester on the 16th. As for Veritas Collegiate Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-58 loss against Norcom on the 20th.
