Elkhart Christian Academy posted their biggest win since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They breezed by Trinity at home to the tune of 53-18. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-12.
Elkhart Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sheridan Maxwell, who scored 11 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydni Haviland, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, South Bend Riley came up short against South Bend Clay on Friday and fell 40-31. South Bend Riley has struggled against South Bend Clay recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, South Bend Riley saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Serinity Pinkney, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and five assists, was perhaps the best of all. Pinkney also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Serenity Farmer was another key contributor, scoring six points along with four steals.
Elkhart Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for South Bend Riley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Elkhart Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like South Bend Riley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Elkhart Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 57-34 defeat they got from South Bend Riley in their previous meeting back in January of 2020.
