B District 1 recap October 8, 2013
Gross Catholic was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Elkhorn South. The Cougars came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 41 last week.
Ralston extended the longest winning streak in B District 1 this week by beating Beatrice, 27-21. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Roncalli Catholic's Cole Meister and Jonah Holzapfel led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Meister has thrown for 399 yards this season, while Holzapfel has 12 catches for 220 yards. Ralston's Isaac Wallace leads the league in rushing yards with 1,140.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Tyler Zahn's team and Gross Catholic. The Rams enters the contest ranked fifth in the state, while Tim Johnk's team ranks 22nd.
Ralston and the Orangemen played the most contested game in B District 1 this week, with Ralston eventually emerging with a 27-21 victory. Wallace ran for 207 yards and caught 2 passes for 26 yards in the win.
