Logansport has gone 8-2 against Twin Lakes recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Berries will head out to square off against the Indians at 5:00 p.m.
On Saturday, Logansport came up short against Lafayette Central Catholic and fell 4-1. The loss continues a trend for the Berries in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost three in a row.
Logansport got a good showing from Josh Middleton, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Middleton has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Deagan Kitchel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Twin Lakes made sure to put some runs up on the board against North Newton on Monday. The Indians were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Spartans. Considering the Indians have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Carson Wagner and Trae Haworth were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Wagner tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Haworth tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At bat, Wagner went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Haworth went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Twin Lakes is undefeated when Wagner posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise.
In other batting news, Twin Lakes let Cooper Dold and Austin Robertson run wild. Dold went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Robertson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits Dold has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Miller, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Twin Lakes is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Logansport, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-13.
Logansport came up short against Twin Lakes when the teams last played on May 3rd, falling 5-1. Can the Berries avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
