Palmyra and Pemberton are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Palmyra is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Palmyra proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 19) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mastery, sneaking past 11-9.
Steven Peltz and Ian Smith made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Peltz tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Smith pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Palmyra is 2-1 when Peltz allows two or fewer hits, but 4-6 otherwise. At bat, Peltz went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Smith went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Peltz a new career-high.

Morgenstern got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Howell got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave Morgenstern a new career-high in hits (three). Dean Maute also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Palmyra kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matchups.
Pemberton never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Westampton Tech on Monday. They blew past the Panthers 15-9. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Hornets as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Palmyra's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Pemberton, their record now sits at 3-5.
Palmyra came out on top in a nail-biter against Pemberton when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
