Buckeye Central is 0-9 against Upper Sandusky since April of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bucks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rams at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Buckeye Central's win against Mansfield Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bucks won by a run and slipped past the Flames 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bucks have posted since April 30, 2025.
Buckeye Central let Sophie West and Aj Jury run wild. West went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Jury went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Phoebe Rafferty, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Upper Sandusky came tearing into Monday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of 9-4.
Kenslee Swavel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adilyn Hessey, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Addy Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Upper Sandusky hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carey struck out 11 times.
The win got Buckeye Central back to even at 1-1. As for Upper Sandusky, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Buckeye Central might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Upper Sandusky in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Can the Bucks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
