With a playoff game on the line, the Lincoln Park Academy Greyhounds rose to the challenge on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Commodores 46-43. The victory was just what Lincoln Park Academy needed coming off of a 78-56 loss in their prior matchup.
Lincoln Park Academy found their leader in underclassman Tyon Johnson, who scored nine points along with five assists and three steals. J'Shaun Williams was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Nicholas Hernandez and Brock Lustic certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hernandez scored nine points, while Lustic scored eight points.
Lincoln Park Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-13. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Eau Gallie, they are on a 18-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-21.
Lincoln Park Academy will head out on the road to face off against the Raiders on Tuesday. Rockledge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Greyhounds in Florida (the Raiders are ranked 49th, while the Greyhounds are ranked 581st). Eau Gallie does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
