It was a good run, but the Roaring Fork Rams unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 58-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cedaredge. Roaring Fork was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bruins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Several Rams players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kiko Pena, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 17 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Noel Richardson, who scored 14 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Roaring Fork struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Cedaredge racked up 13 assists.
Cedaredge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Luke Maxey led the charge by scoring 21 points along with three steals. Maxey hasn't dropped below 16 points for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Tullis, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Roaring Fork's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Cedaredge, they pushed their record up to 6-9 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roaring Fork won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Meeker focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Cedaredge, they will be playing at home against the Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gunnison is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
