Claremont is on a five-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Chaffey a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Claremont Wolfpack will take on the Chaffey Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Claremont comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Claremont's 8-3 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Covina. While losing is never fun, Claremont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 715th, while West Covina is ranked 312th).
Meanwhile, Chaffey pushed their score all the way to 44 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 52-44 to Don Lugo.
Chaffey's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Carlos Vasquez, who rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns, and Seth Delgado who rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
The losses dropped Claremont to 0-8 and Chaffey to 1-7.
Claremont strolled past Chaffey in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a score of 30-16. Will Claremont repeat their success, or does Chaffey have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
