WILKESBORO, N.C. -
North Wilkes (Hays, N.C.) put up 14 points in the fourth quarter in Saturday's game to seal their 47-14 victory over Wilkes Central (Wilkesboro, N.C.).
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
LJ Hendren in the first quarter, the Vikings were up 27-14 at the half.
North Wilkes expanded its lead to 19 points entering the fourth quarter. NW scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run.
The Hays school entered the contest giving up 22.9 points per game this year. The Vikings held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Eagles well above the 6.4 points it had been averaging per game.
North Wilkes got revenge for last year's 34-14 loss to Wilkes Central with the victory.
