The West Muskingum Tornadoes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of John Glenn. While losing is never fun, West Muskingum can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 582nd, while John Glenn is ranked 212th).
Carter Smith and Conner Hill certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Smith scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Hill scored 12 points along with three steals. Coleman Loyd was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
John Glenn's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Stehl Bates, who scored 11 points along with four steals. Bates' trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Briggs, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
West Muskingum's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-9. As for John Glenn, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
West Muskingum will head out on the road to challenge Maysville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Maysville will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for John Glenn, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crooksville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
