The Venture Academy Mustangs put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 58-49 victory over East Union. Given Venture Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while East Union is ranked 1119th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Mario Williams, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Venture Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Lowe, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
East Union's loss came despite strong showings from Jackson Fay and Sergio Quezada. Fay scored 20 points, while Quezada scored 15 points. The contest was Quezada's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Venture Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for East Union, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Venture Academy and Golden Valley will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Golden Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. East Union and Turlock will face off at 7:00 p.m. on December 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Turlock has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 182 points over their last three matches.
