The North Salinas Vikings will be playing at home against the Soledad Aztecs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, North Salinas came up short against Rancho San Juan and fell 65-57. North Salinas has not had much luck with Rancho San Juan recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite their loss, North Salinas saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Trevon Kubulan, who scored 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was David Jauregui, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Soledad waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 63-53 win over Monte Vista Christian. The win was all the more spectacular given Soledad's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1085th, while Monte Vista Christian is ranked 526th).
North Salinas' defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Soledad, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-10 record this season.
North Salinas came up short against Soledad in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 55-44. Can North Salinas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
