Roosevelt hasn't had much luck against Concordia Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Teddies are taking a road trip to take on the Beacons at 3:30 p.m. Roosevelt has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Roosevelt came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Apple Valley, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Teddies' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, Concordia Academy entered their tilt with St. Croix Lutheran on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Crusaders 12-2.
Ashlyn Croon was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Concordia Academy got a massive performance out of Grace Madden, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Maria Mueller was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Concordia Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.
Roosevelt's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Concordia Academy, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Roosevelt suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Concordia Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Teddies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
