The Esparto Spartans will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Highlands Scots at 7:30 p.m.
Esparto suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They were outmatched by Golden Sierra on the road and fell 72-13. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Esparto has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Angel Torres, who scored five points along with six rebounds and two blocks. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Cohen Sihapanya, who scored six points.
Highlands posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Vacaville Christian 62-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Esparto's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-17. As for Highlands, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10.
Esparto took a serious blow against Highlands in their previous meeting on January 5th, falling 91-45. Will Esparto have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other basketball content.
