Badger has been on the road for two straight, but on Monday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Pymatuning Valley Lakers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, Badger blew past Mathews, posting a 50-19 victory on the road. Given Badger's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Mathews is ranked 420th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Badger can attribute much of their success to Hannah Betts, who scored 12 points along with 9 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Rice, who scored 5 points along with 6 steals.
Meanwhile, Pymatuning Valley entered their tilt with St. John with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Pymatuning Valley claimed a resounding 76-45 win over St. John at home. With that victory, Pymatuning Valley brought their scoring average up to 57.7 points per game.
Leah DeMoss was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 19 points along with 6 assists and 5 rebounds. DeMoss is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Zoey Painter was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.
Their wins bumped Badger to 3-1 and Mathews to 1-4.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Badger hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 59.2 points per game. However, it's not like Pymatuning Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 57.7 per game. The only thing between Badger and another offensive beatdown is Pymatuning Valley. Badger didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Pymatuning Valley when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 41-37 victory. Does Badger have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pymatuning Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
