Even though the Las Plumas Thunderbirds scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, the Corning Cardinals still came out on top. Corning managed a 61-55 victory over Las Plumas. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Corning.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Corning to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaidan Raker, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 1 assist. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Raker has scored all season. Roman Bennett was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.
Las Plumas lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Martin Soria, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Webb, who scored 16 points.
The victory got Corning back to even at 10-10. As for Las Plumas, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Corning will take on Orland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Orland is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.4 points per game. As for Las Plumas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Gridley at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gridley will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
