Thornton Fractional South scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Lemont, 21-20. At the time, the Indians was ranked 25th in the state, while the Rebels was 91st.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Thornton Fractional South, who took down 25th ranked Lemont, 21-20.
Bremen's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tyler Banovich threw for 152 yards and D'arious Tolbert had 64 yards receiving. On the ground Devonta Wilson chipped in 126 yards. David Burrell helped Bremen's passing attack out by catching three balls for 31 yards.
Hillcrest's Devonte Brewer and London Covington have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading South Suburban - Blue in both passing and receiving yards. Brewer has thrown for 952 yards this season, while Covington, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 37 catches for 610 yards. Wilson from the Braves leads the league in rushing with 876 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Tom Padjen's team takes on Bremen. As it stands, the Rebels are in first, while Dan Stell's team is in fifth.
Thornton Fractional South extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Eric Michaelsen's team, 21-20. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
