The Tonopah Valley Phoenix will face off against the Parker Broncs at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Tonopah Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
On Wednesday, Tonopah Valley needed a bit of extra time to put away Bourgade Catholic. They had just enough and edged out the Golden Eagles 4-3. The victory continues a trend for the Phoenix in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
Connor Hart was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Hart was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Hart wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Procunier, who went 2-for-4 with one double. Brian Pimental also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Parker couldn't beat Kingman on Saturday even though they stacked six runs on them in the fifth inning. The Broncs fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 9-8. The defeat continues a trend for the Broncs in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.
Leif Flores and Jax Poole stepped up to the plate in a big way. Flores went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Poole went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Parker is 3-1 when Poole posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Rodriguez, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
Parker now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Tonopah Valley, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tonopah Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Parker struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Tonopah Valley got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 against Parker by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Phoenix repeat their success, or do the Broncs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
