The Wellington Skyrockets and the Sunray Bobcats squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Wellington Skyrockets had to settle for second. They took a 36-22 bruising from the Bobcats.
Despite the loss, Wellington still got an impressive performance from Travon Lewis, who rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown.
Armando Lujan was his usual excellent self, rushing for 179 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 215 yards and two touchdowns for Sunray. Arnold Mendoza was another key contributor, rushing for 55 yards and two touchdowns.
Wellington's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Sunray, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
Wellington does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sunray will be playing in front of their home fans against Clarendon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clarendon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 452 points over their last ten matchups.
